Results announced for ISU band championship

NORMAL -- Final results have been announced for the State of Illinois Invitational Marching Band Championship, held last Saturday at Illinois State University’s Hancock Stadium.

Morton High School was the only Pantagraph-area band to place in the finals competition, earning eighth place in a field of 12 bands.

In preliminary competition, results by class were:

Class 1A: University High School, Normal, third place; Eureka High School, fourth place; Olympia High School, sixth place.

Class 2A: Morton High School, first; Metamora Township High School, third; Lincoln Community High School, fourth.

Class 4A: Normal Community West High School, third; Bloomington High School, third.

Class 5A: Pekin Community High School, sixth.

In special categories for percussion, auxiliary and winds, winners were:

Class 1A: U High, second, percussion; fourth, auxiliary; third, winds; Eureka, fourth, percussion; third, auxiliary; fourth, winds; Olympia, sixth, percussion; sixth, auxiliary; sixth, winds.

Class 2A: Morton, first, percussion; first, auxiliary; first, winds; Metamora, second, percussion; third, auxiliary; fourth, winds; Lincoln, fifth, percussion; seventh, auxiliary; third, winds.

Class 4A: Bloomington, first, percussion; third, auxiliary; first, winds; Normal West, third, percussion; first, auxiliary; third, winds.

Class 5A: Pekin, fifth, percussion; sixth, auxiliary; sixth, winds.

" Great reporting.....Normal West finished SECOND and Bloomington was third in 4A. While I know that all marching band members work very hard, please give the hard working kids from West the accolades they deserve! They will make all of B/N proud when they perform at the Fiesta Bowl. "
