Several classes changed top teams in the final state rankings for high school football released Tuesday by The Associated Press. The teams’ rankings were based on postseason classes revealed Saturday night.

In Class 7A, Wheaton Warrenville South (9-0) took over at No. 1 after dropping in class. Warrenville South had been ranked in 8A all season.

In 1A, Tuscola (8-1) regained the No. 1 spot it gave up two weeks earlier after Dakota (9-0) ended up in the Class 2A playoffs.

In 5A, Metamora (9-0) moved to the top spot after previous No. 1 Lombard Montini suffered its first loss to Addison Driscoll and fell to No. 2. Driscoll retained the No. 1 position it has held all season in Class 4A.

St. Joseph-Ogden in 3A, Morrison in 2A, Chicago Mount Carmel in 8A and Normal Community in 6A all finished the regular season undefeated and No. 1 in their respective classes.

The 32-team bracketed playoffs begin this weekend in all eight classes, ending with the state championships on Nov. 23 and 24 at Memorial Stadium in Champaign, Ill.

" Let's go Big Purp, show that playoff pride and let's get after Cuba Friday... Remember, Tradition Never Graduates! "

" But yes they won one by a forfiet. But they also lost to two tough state ranked teams in 2A and 3A. So they are a team to watch out for. Heyworth i think is not great but could give any team a run for their money also. So neither team should take the other for granted. (Not saying this to be nice either, i truly don't want salt fork to win. I am for one of their rivals) "
