PONTIAC -- Two Pontiac men are facing 12 charges concerning the burglaries of several vehicles earlier this month.

Zachary L. Bryant, 18, of rural Pontiac, and Stephen M. Waggoner, 25, of the 1200 block of East Prairie Street, were arrested on Oct. 7.

During a court hearing Wednesday, Pontiac Det. Brad Baird said officers were told of a series of vehicle burglaries in the early morning of Oct. 7. Some of the victims said they saw Bryant and Waggoner enter one vehicle and attempt to enter another.

Reports indicate the pair either entered or burglarized eight cars, trucks and vans, tried to break into another car, entered two garages and stole a purse. They are charged with nine counts of burglary, one count of attempted burglary, one count of criminal trespass to a vehicle and one count of theft.

But Livingston County Circuit Judge Harold Frobish said there was sufficient evidence to charge Waggoner. Pre-trial hearings are set Dec. 17 for Bryant and Dec. 19 for Waggoner.

Robbery — A preliminary hearing was waived Wednesday by a man accused of robbing a pet store earlier this month.

Christopher Keever, 22, was arrested Oct. 7. He is accused of walking into P&P Aquarist and Pet, 830½ E. Livingston St., and demanding money from the cashier, who was his girlfriend.

Police said Keever was wearing dark clothes, a ski mask and brandishing a butcher knife, but his girlfriend recognized him. He told the woman to lie to police or he would take away their child, court documents said.

The girlfriend gave Keever money from a register in a bag, but told police the truth. A pre-trial has been set for Dec. 19.
