Preview of the Big 12 Swim Meet at Bloomington High School, which begins with diving events at 9 a.m. and swimming at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Team outlook: Look for Champaign Central to regain the title Champaign Centennial took from the Maroons last year. Second through seventh place in the seven-team meet is expected to be close.

Intercity hopefuls: Normal West senior Alyssa Deffner, depending on which two individual events she enters, could place high in the 200-yard freestyle, 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke. Look for BHS diver Paige Steffen and 2006 champion Norah Cetin of Centennial to post big scores along with Shelby Brown of NCHS. Morgan Buechele of NCHS, fifth in the 100 breaststroke last year, is again a contender. Mandy Pendland of BHS, who has battled a calf injury, could challenge in the 200 IM and breaststroke.
