Junior forward Matt Frahm scored a game-high 21 points, including 10 in the pivotal fourth quarter, to lead Olympia High School to a 53-49 basketball victory over Heyworth in the championship game of the Olympia Thanksgiving Classic at Stanford. | Box scores, schedules, stats The Hornets jumped out to an 11-4 lead after one period in the see-saw affair before the Spartans rallied for a 23-18 halftime advantage. Heyworth rebounded to lead 37-36 heading to the fourth quarter before Olympia outscored the Hornets 17-12 down the stretch to secure the victory. Colt Stroud added 10 points for the Spartans (3-0) to join Frahm on the all-tournament team while Trevor Strubhar finished with eight. Jase Wilson scored 14 points to lead Heyworth (2-1 in tourney, 3-1 overall). All-tournament selection Spencer Campbell added 10 points for the game while all-tourney player Nick Kronmiller had eight. “It was a well-played, very intense championship game,” said Olympia coach Gerry Thornton. Roanoke-Benson 69, LeRoy 56: Micah Fehr led a balanced Rockets scoring attack with 15 points to lead the Rockets to victory over LeRoy in the third-place game. Fehr had seven points in the third quarter as Roanoke-Benson stretched a 29-27 halftime advantage to 51-41 with one period to play. Jordan Fehr and Sam Durley added 11 points apiece for the Rockets (1-2) while Andrew Mullins reached double figures with 10. Matt Schopp scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Panthers (0-3) while James Brent added 17. Mark Brent had 15 points for LeRoy. Durley and Mullins were named to the all-tournament team along with Mark Brent from LeRoy. Olympia 55, Roanoke-Benson 35: Stroud and Strubhar scored 15 points apiece to lead Olympia past Roanoke-Benson in earlier action. Frahm added 10 points for the Spartans, who led 28-14 at halftime. Mullins led Roanoke-Benson with 19 points. Heyworth 51, LeRoy 38: Campbell scored 10 points to become one of four Hornets with eight or more points in a win over LeRoy. The Panthers, who led 13-5 after one quarter, received 11 points apiece from Mark Brent and Tyler Bruning. At Ottawa Ottawa 37, Pontiac 35: Matt Hunter’s 11 points, six rebounds and five steals weren’t enough as Pontiac (2-2) fell to host Ottawa. Pontiac took a 31-21 lead into the fourth quarter before faltering. Ottawa received nine points apiece from Brent Anderson and Tyler Clausel. The victors gained a 38-26 advantage on the glass with help from Corey Kimes’ 12 rebounds. Pontiac held Ottawa to 28 percent shooting from the field, but only shot 27 percent itself. At Hoopeston Iroquois West 58, Milford 46: Neil Hollingsworth tallied 15 points and Angel Sanchez 14 for Iroquois West (3-1) in a win over Milford (0-3). Aaron Thomas added 10 points and six rebounds for the Raiders, who sank their first four 3-pointers en route to a 26-9 first-quarter lead. At Seneca Prairie Central 35, Reed Custer 30: Clint Davis poured in 15 points and Mark Schmitt 10 for Prairie Central in a victory over Reed Custer. The Hawks finished fifth in the tournament with a 2-2 record while Reed Custer fell to 1-3. Pete Kinate grabbed eight rebounds for the Hawks, who took a 26-23 lead into the fourth quarter. “With the inexperience we have, that (a victory) is all we were looking for,” said Prairie Central coach Tim McGuire. “The kids played very, very hard.” Flanagan 46, Ottawa Marquette 37: Alex Detweiler scored eight of his game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter to lift Flanagan (1-3) over Marquette (1-3) to take seventh place in the tournament. Darin Gundy added nine points for the Falcons. At Peoria Heights Mount Pulaski 60, Peoria Heights 35: Paul Foley poured in 19 points and Jonathan Clevenger 16 for Mount Pulaski in a win over host Peoria Heights. Kendal Gibbs added 10 points for the Hilltoppers, who enjoyed a 23-14 halftime lead. Julius Gray paced Peoria Heights with 10 points. Peoria Christian 63, Dee-Mack 59: Austin Weishaupt scored 22 points for the Chiefs (1-3) but it was not enough to overcome a 16-point halftime deficit against Peoria Christian (4-0) at Peoria Heights. At Athens Illini Bluffs 55, Illini Central 54: Despite getting 16 points from Alex Bradshaw, the Cougars fell short to Illini Bluffs in this tournament game. Logan Frye and Danny Harman each added 10 points for Illini Central. Delavan 53, Athens 10: The Panthers held the hosts to two points in the first quarter and zero in the fourth en route to the victory. Jordan Zimmer led a balanced scoring attack with 13 points, while Brady Zimmer added 10. Derek Moehring added nine for Delavan (3-0), which plays Pleasant Plains for the title at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. P At Hoopeston Fisher 38, Hoopeston Area 27: Sam Estes scored 12 points and Travis Bayler 10 for Fisher in a win over host Hoopeston Area. At Paxton Peotone 56, Tri-Valley 50: The Vikings were outscored by Peotone 32-18 in the second and third quarters to fall in the Interstate Classic championship game Saturday night in Paxton. Jacob Lewis led Tri-Valley with 10 points, while Alex Gelsthorpe and Jeff Boward each added nine. PBL 53, Clifton Central 40: Kendall Cox scored 13 points to lead PBL to victory over Clifton Central in the third place game. Tom Rubarts added 11 points for PBL as the Panthers took a 27-15 halftime lead and stretched the advantage to 45-30 with one period to play. Clinton 50, Manteno 45: Kyle Welch and Ross Bruenger each hit four three pointers as Clinton defeated Manteno 50-45 in the fifth place game. Welch finished with a team high 16 points for the Maroons while Bruenger and Josh Barr added 12 points apiece. CPCI 51, Armstrong-Potomac 46: The Timberwolves Quinn Steffen scored 16 points and teammate Devon Kuhn added 12 points to win the seventh place game over Armstrong-Potomac.
