Pontiac man accused of sexual assault

PONTIAC — A Pontiac man has been charged with predatory criminal sexual assault of a child under 13 years old that possibly started eight years ago, police said.

Eric Hamand, 32, was arrested last week in a case dating to fall 1999, court reports said.

Pontiac police said the Department of Children and Family Services and investigators are still reviewing the case.

Hamand is due back in court Thursday in the Livingston County Courthouse. He remains jailed in lieu of posting $10,000.

Burglary — A 22-year-old is accused of burglarizing and damaging a Bloomington school after police responded to an alarm Friday night, the McLean County State’s Attorney’s office said in a statement.

Franklin Dominguez-Martinez was charged with burglary of a school, a Class 1 felony, and criminal damage to government property, a Class 4 felony, the statement said.

Police observed a broken window and Dominguez-Martinez inside Stevenson Elementary School, 2106 Arrowhead Drive, when they arrived at about 9 p.m, the statement said. He ran from the building but was apprehended in possession of audio cables, leather gloves and a box wrench, the statement said.

He was held in lieu of $500.

Burglary — A 36-year-old man is accused of breaking a window, entering a building and stealing change before trying to flee from police in Bloomington.

Two officers suffered minor injuries to a wrist and a knee in the incident, police said.

Scott A. Atkins was jailed Friday in lieu of $1,000 on charges of burglary and resisting a police officer.

A court document says officers saw Atkins inside National Welding Supply Co., 307 S. McClun St., before he dove out a window head-first, broke free from an officer’s grip and ran. When arrested, Atkins had a large amount of change in his pocket and admitted some was from the building, the document said.

Cocaine — Three Chicago men and two Bloomington women were arrested Wednesday in Bloomington on cocaine-related charges.

Christiaan D. Davis, 18, Dwayne L. Franklin, 18, and Ramon T. Sumerlin, 25, were jailed in lieu of posting $200,000 each on two counts each of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver the drug within 1,000 feet of a public housing complex. They are accused of possessing and intending to sell cocaine near Sunnyside public housing complex.

Amber L. Shepherd, 17, of the 800 block of West Illinois Street, was held in lieu of $5,000 on two charges of criminal drug conspiracy. She is accused of agreeing with Davis to sell cocaine to a police source.

Ebony S. Brown, 27, of the 1800 block of West Illinois Street, was jailed in lieu of posting $5,000 on charges of permitting the unlawful use of a building and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. She is accused of letting Davis sell cocaine from her home and of possessing cocaine.

Vacant house damaged in fire

BLOOMINGTON — The back part of a vacant house was damaged in a fire at 601 E. Bell Street shortly after 2 a.m. Saturday, Bloomington fire reports said. Cause of the blaze remained under investigation.

Burglary — Four apartments on the 1400 and 1500 blocks of Turnbull Avenue were burglarized Friday, Normal police reports said.

Normal police said the houses apparently were burglarized by the same person or people. In each case, the burglar attempted to take a 42-inch television mounted on the wall. The televisions were provided by the apartment management company and are valued at $1,200 each.

The burglar succeeded at taking only one television and a television mount from one of the apartments.

The burglar entered the apartments by breaking through window screens and locked doors.

Burglary — One apartment was reported burglarized and eight others had their doors pried open over the Thanksgiving weekend, Normal police said.

An Illinois State University student returned from the holiday weekend Sunday about noon to find his apartment in the 500 block of North Main Street had been broken into, police said. All that was reported missing was a Green Bay Packers helmet valued at $10, police said.

But police have advised residents in the other eight apartments in the building to inventory their possessions after police found the doors forced open, police said.

Vehicle burglary — A car on the 100 block of Crossing Drive was burglarized Friday, a Normal police report said. Jewelry, compact discs, an iPod and three speakers with a total estimated value of $1,300 were stolen.

Theft — Groceries with a total estimated value of $450 were stolen Thursday from a grocery store in the 2100 block of North Veterans Parkway, Bloomington, a police report said.

Burglary — Two shotguns, two rifles, a handgun, a computer and various DVDs, all with a total value of $1,500, were stolen between 5 p.m. Nov. 18 and 8 a.m. Nov. 19 from a residence in the 900 block of South Wright Street, Bloomington, a police official said. There was no sign of forced entry.

Burglary — A power paint sprayer valued at $500 was stolen between 3 p.m. Nov. 19 and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday from a residence in the 1100 block of Teegan Street, Bloomington, a police official said.

Burglary — A computer and various electronic components, no value given, were stolen between 11 p.m. Nov. 18 and 8:45 a.m. Nov. 19 from a residence in the 900 block of East Chestnut Street, Bloomington, a police official said. It was not clear how entry was gained, the official said.

Burglary — Twenty sets of U.S. mint coins were reported stolen from the bedroom of a residence in the 400 block of Michael Court, a Normal police report said. The coins, from 2003 to 2006, were stolen sometime between October 2006 and Oct. 15, 2007, the report said.

Burglary — Aaron’s Sales & Lease, 1724 R.T. Dunn Drive, was reported burglarized at 2:40 a.m. Nov. 18. Four LCD televisions and an HD DVD player were stolen, a Bloomington police report said.

Vehicle burglary — Someone cut open the soft-top roofs of two cars in an Illinois State University parking lot and stole cash and part of a radio sometime between Nov. 4 and 16, an ISU police report said.
