Ridgeview students collect 3,000 cans
BLOOMINGTON -- Ridgeview Junior-Senior High School students topped the results in McLean County Community Compact’s food drive again this year.
The Colfax-based students collected more than 3,000 cans, said Principal Jim Campbell.
Ridgeview students also were the top collectors for the Compact’s Teens in Prevention canned food drive last year. Seniors Lauren Harrison, Lauren Rathke, Sarah Mauer and Kelsey Petersen accepted the $300 prize, which will be administered by the student council.
Kids’ holiday party planned for Dec. 15
BLOOMINGTON — The 25th annual Christmas for Kids party for unemployed or underemployed McLean County families is scheduled for 10 a.m. Dec. 15 at Bloomington High School.
The party has carnival games, arts and crafts, costumed characters, cartoons, a karate demonstration and a visit from Santa with a gift for each child.
The annual event is co-sponsored by the AFL-CIO and Great Plains Radio. Illinois State University student athletes help with activities.
