As all three Intercity schools represented the Big 12 Conference in the Illinois High School Association football state playoffs this past month, each school was represented well in the all-conference selections announced Monday, taking 18 of 28 first-team honors.

Normal Community senior lineman Billy Dickson was honored Monday as the offensive player of the year, while defensive back and teammate Alex Buck garnered defensive player of the year.

Joining Dickson as all-conference linemen were Normal West’s Drew Milliken and NCHS’ Derek Logue. Dickson and Milliken were unanimous selections. Bloomington’s Charlie Schmelzer was voted the league’s top tight end. West’s Matt Paska was a selection at wide receiver.

Darrelynn Dunn of BHS and West’s Darius Bell were named to the four-member running back team as juniors. Chad Hinshaw of NCHS was voted the league’s top place kicker.

On defense, NCHS teammates Jake Kretlow (lineman) and Buck were the only unanimous selections. Mark Osnowitz (NCHS), Terry Davis (BHS) and Aaron Kinnebrew (West) were each named to the first-team as linemen.

Austin Kull (NCHS), Austin Davis (NCHS) and Marcus Johnson (BHS) were selected to the linebacker corps, while Kennedy Freeman (NCHS) and Erich Bushong (West) joined Buck in the defensive backfield.
