Four face drug charges after noise complaint leads to search
PONTIAC -- A complaint about loud noise led to the discovery of more than 100 grams of marijuana and the arrest of four people who were charged in court Tuesday, Pontiac police said. Andrew Hallam, 23, of Chenoa and Pontiac residents Carmen Rodriguez, 24, Andrew Adams, 22, and Jason Mathias, 32, were charged with various marijuana possession offenses. Officers arrived at an apartment in the 300 block of West Cleary Street around 11:15 p.m. Sunday after a noise complaint. Police could smell marijuana when they got to the door, said Jim Woolford, Pontiac police administrative commander. Police found 120 grams of hidden marijuana, marijuana cigarettes, two electronic scales and a water pipe, Woolford said. First Assistant State’s Attorney Carey Luckman said authorities believe the apartment belonged to Rodriguez, and she was charged with the Class 3 felonies of unlawful marijuana possession with the intent to deliver and unlawful marijuana possession. Rodriguez also is being charged with two Class A misdemeanors of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Adams and Hallam were charged with Class 4 felony unlawful marijuana possession. Mathias was charged with misdemeanor unlawful marijuana possession. The variation in the charges is based on the amount of marijuana present at the time and who was believed to be in possession of it. Rodriguez and Adams were jailed in lieu of posting $5,000 while Hallam was jailed in lieu of posting $3,000 and Mathias, $1,500. A fifth person was also arrested at the scene of the incident but later was released. |
