Results from Feb. 19 games involving Pantagraph-area Class 1A boys basketball regional teams. | Box scores, schedules and stats Ridgeview 86, Cornerstone Christian 35: Bradley Ghere led four Ridgeview players in double figures with 13 points as the host school cruised past No. 14 seed Cornerstone Christian in first-round action of the Ridgeview Regional at Colfax. Ridgeview (22-6) sprinted to a 23-4 first-quarter lead. The Mustangs, who will battle Roanoke-Benson in tonight’s second semifinal, boosted the margin to 65-26 by the end of the third period. Also in double figures for Ridgeview were Derek Powell with 11 points and Paul Tolan and Casey Heimer with 10 each. Nathan Boyd chipped in eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds, while Jordan Ayers had eight points and a team-high seven assists. Sophomore Jacob Veazey led all players with 16 points for Cornerstone Christian. Taylor Clark had 10. Roanoke-Benson 57, Lexington 52: Cody Barth scored a game-high 20 points and Randall Koehler added 16 as fifth-seeded Roanoke-Benson rallied in the second half to edge No. 11 seed Lexington in a first-round game at Colfax. Roanoke-Benson trailed 28-22 at halftime before the Rockets used an 18-7 run in the third quarter to take a 40-35 advantage. Micah Fehr had eight points for the Rockets, who outscored Lexington, 14-2, from the free-throw line. Michael Emberton had 16 points to lead Lexington (10-15). Dylan Toon and Sam Williamson added 15 and 14 points, respectively. GCMS 84, DeLand-Weldon 24: GCMS placed all 12 players in the scoring column as the No. 4-seeded Falcons rolled past No. 14 DeLand-Weldon in first-round action of the GCMS Regional at Gibson City. Cody Birky led GCMS with 20 points, including 14 in the first quarter that helped the Falcons jump out to a 28-2 advantage. Tyler Buhs added 14 points while Calab Cook had 10. GCMS (11-14) will face No. 6 seed Decatur Lutheran in tonight’s second semifinal. Hartsburg-Emden 54, Tri-City 40: Hartsburg-Emden survived a sloppy first quarter and Dakin Bolen scored a game-high 20 points to give the Stags a win in the first round of the Warrensburg-Latham Regional at Warrensburg. Tri-City (1-25) held the ball right after the opening tip, and the Stags had just two possessions in the first quarter as the teams combined for 13 points in the first eight minutes. But the Stags (19-10) got rolling in the second quarter, taking a 24-12 halftime lead. Brandon Duffey handed out three assists to tie a school record for assists in a season with 175. Duffey should pass Curtis Conrady’s 2005 mark in tonight’s semifinal against Heyworth. Heyworth 72, Niantic 51: Jase Wilson poured in a game-high 28 points as No. 5 seed Heyworth (20-7) cruised past Niantic Sangamon Valley in a first round game at Warrensburg. Nick Kronmiller and Spencer Campbell added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for the Hornets, who led 32-19 at halftime. Jordan Slayback contributed eight points. Iroquois West 69, Illinois Lutheran 52: Junior guard Angel Sanchez canned five 3-pointers en route to a game-high 20 points to lead regional host and No. 6 seed Iroquois West past No. 13 seed Illinois Lutheran in first-round action at Gilman. Iroquois West took control from the start, building a 43-21 lead by halfime. Neil Hollingsworth added 12 points for the Raiders, who will play No. 4 seed Newark in a semifinal tonight. Trace Coleman chipped in nine points while Zach Villwock handled a team-high six rebounds. Newark 70, Tri-Point 57: Bryant Frechette scored a team-high 16 points and Nick Wallrich had 13 in No. 14 seed Tri-Point’s loss to Newark. Tri-Point battled to a 13-13 first-quarter tie before Newark outscored the Chargers 39-26 over the next two periods. Mount Pulaski 60, Athens 37: After being down 10-8 at the end of the first quarter Mount Pulaski outscored Athens 24-8 on the way to halftime to cruise to a 60-37 victory in a Delavan Regional quarterfinal. Paul Foley led the Toppers with 20. Tri-Valley 64, Greenview 56: Tri-Valley held off a fourth-quarter charge by Greenview, but the Vikings regained the lead on a 3-pointer by Jeff Boward to claim a quarterfinal victory at the Delavan Regional.
