BLOOMINGTON -- The driver of a sport utility vehicle was not injured after crashing into a building in a downtown Bloomington parking lot Tuesday morning.

The building in the 200 block of North Main Street borders the State Farm Insurance Cos. parking deck and is occupied by Heartland Bank and Trust and Patni Computer Systems.

The tip of the vehicle's hood and grill broke through the brick exterior at about 10 a.m. Tuesday and damaged drywall inside a portion of the building occupied by Patni.

Employees inside the building were temporarily moved until the building was checked for safety.

" i park in this deck several times a week and how someone was going into a space fast enough to put their suv throught the wall like that seems crazy....it's a tight small deck with parking on both sides, did she broad slide into the space or what?? slow down people....thank god no one inside was injured or the driver... " I wonder this...How does a person in a parking lot(it's not that big)crash into a building hard enough to break through a wall? What was going on with the driver? "

" At least it's good news about this person. I've seen enough murder headlines to last a lifetime. Go Pantagraph. Keep it light. "

" They have a funny picture so it's news. Word to the wise, don't do anything potentially embarassing within several blocks of the Pantagraph during business hours while their photographer is taking a smoke break or you'll be a headline. "

" DUH... An SUV will CAUSE MORE DAMAGE (hence 'reportable') than a car or 'smartcar'. There's no "agenda", for pete's sakes, just PHYSICS... "

" if this had been a car or the "smart" car driving through the wall it would not have made the paper but it is an evil suv.... "

" I work in the building and we heard a loud noise and the building shook. I thought there had been an explosion. The woman was very upset but seemed ok. This could have been much worse. The interior wall was in a conference room and it was pushed in several feet and partial collapsed. The woman whose office is located directly above was pretty upset. Her whole office shook and her floor dropped a few inches. This article doesn't give the severity of the accident justice. Believe me, it's news worthy. "

" She did not appear to be injured, nor did anyone else.

For the record, it is not a State Farm deck; it is a city deck in a portion reserved for National City employees. "
