B-N singer advances to round of 20 in 'American Idol'

BLOOMINGTON -- An “American Idol” contestant with ties to Bloomington-Normal can keep on singing. | Video

Luke Menard, 28, a member of the Bloomington-based a cappella group Chapter 6, was not among the two men and two women eliminated Thursday from the Fox television network’s popular singing competition. Twenty-four contestants — 12 men and 12 women — performed Tuesday and Wednesday in advance of Thursday’s elimination episode.

The remaining 20 will head into next week’s round.
