Boy taken to hospital from YWCA
BLOOMINGTON -- The YWCA swimming pool will remain closed for the time being after some sort of incident Monday sent a boy to a Bloomington hospital. Medical personnel, police and firefighters were called about 2:45 p.m. to the YWCA, 1201 N. Hershey Road. The boy was taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Officials declined to release further details. YWCA spokeswoman Pat Poppe left a phone message saying the pool would remain closed at least through March 30. She could not be reached for further comment. Evelyn Young, director of the Boys and Girls Club of Bloomington-Normal, said the boy was one of 25 with her organization who were brought to the pool. Young said she did not have details on what happened. The boy’s father was with him at OSF, she said. “Hopefully, this is going to have a good ending,” Young said. She helped direct young children into organization vans shortly after 3 p.m., and then she went to the hospital. Young said the trip was one of several field trips scheduled for the organization during schools’ spring break. |
