BLOOMINGTON -- Police are investigating a stabbing that took place early Sunday on Valley View Circle in far-west Bloomington, though the injuries the victim suffered do not appear to be life-threatening.

The victim was stabbed around 5 a.m., though police could not provide a precise address Sunday afternoon. Bloomington police have not released the name of the victim, who was taken to OSF St. Joseph Medical Center because of the injuries.

The injuries are “not believed to be life threatening," said police Sgt. Don Newton.

The incident remained under investigation Sunday afternoon.

No problem and no offense taken.
*I* was wondering where the location was (P hadn't released that info yet, just the street name), and looked it up. I was SHOCKED, as I had always thought this was a nice neighborhood, and my parting comment was that it was a shame to see violence happening EVERYWHERE nowdays, and to all walks of people, not just 'infighting' between the thugs and bad element of late...
Later, I had NO IDEA how I was going to jump in and not cause more problems when the subject seemed to go in the wrong direction here... so I just backed out when I realized my post struck the wrong nerves in the wrong way... ;-(
Mea culpa... "

My initial thought when I read this was "Why even write that when there's such a stigma regarding the Turnberry's?" I felt that was just stirring the pot. You thought that I was referencing something out of the blue, but I'm truly more level headed than that...and I do accept your apology! :) I guess my point was that it's all the hype that this town has placed on Turnberry anything when it doesn't matter. Crime happens...

No hard feelings jips...I do enjoy your posts...just had to explain my reasoning for mine. "

We've had several felony assaults and robberies, commited by "unknown" caucasian young people, which never grace the pages of this newspaper (for whatever reason, sometimes it is because the perps are "persons of interest" in, say, local burglaries, for example). Some of these people use weapons, too. Don't tunnel-vision in on the "criminal intelligence analyst" statistical data, to the exclusion of what is happening "on the ground". That will only lead you into making assumptions that are quite wrong, which is a very dangerous security measure for you to take, individually. "

Your view of people who are NOT wealthy is sad. To call people "stiffers", worse, to call them SCUM, just because they don't have the 'extra' on hand to tip you with!
Becaue it's subsidized housing, KNOW that 99% of the people there are struggling just to put food on the table, and the cost of a pizza these days is a LUXURY, in itself, when one realizes that $20 to $30 CAN, if done carefully, purchase a week's worth of basics (ie: milk, bread, eggs, cereal, soup) for a small family.
You must be a teenager, or thereabouts, and not earning money yet that MUST go entirely to housing yourself. Low income families like to enjoy a pizza now and then, too, but often must do it in 'exchange' for something else (like, no movie rentals, or some such) AND it usually means skipping the tip for the driver.
Get smart. Suggest to your Manager that you be given more AFFLUENT routes every other shift, to help offset the "low tip" nights.
Another thing: you'd be surprised at how many people don't even KNOW proper tipping protocol and amounts in the first place! "

Now I used to shop at those locations on the west side of Bloomington Normal but in the past 6 months have migrated to Pekin,Morton or East Peoria since they are about equal distance from where I live. We read about 12 year olds out past 7:30 in the dark unsupervised on school nights throwing rocks at a band bus. We read about teens attacking and carjacking a shopper in the parking lot of a store adjacent to this complex. Should we think this apartment complex is just business as normal? I have not read about this type of crime any otherplace in town except Orlando Apts, and the tenants there say the same story. Not us. its just a couple of bad apples. Its up to the owners of these complexes to evict and refuse tenancy. They need to rid the complex of the bad apples and thiose tenants that harbor these bad apples permanately. "

" I live in Turnberry. It is a nice neighborhood... everyone that lives there is not from the projects in Chicago... everyone that lives there is not on goverment assisstance. Most of the residents are decent dpeople who pay their rent and take pride in their neighborhood. Background checks are done on every resident before moving in. This could and does happen anywhere. Especially places where a large number of people are living within close proximity to each other.
To:Lurg86- just for your information... individuals who receive goverment assisstance for their rent also receive a background check once a year... not too sure what convictions are not allowed, but it is done. Every time an arrest or police complaint happens at a government assisted residents home a notice is sent to the assisstance agency. Also if found to have a convicted felon living in their house they will lose their assisstance. To the best of my knowledge, convicted felons, at least drug related felonies, are not allowed to receive government assisstance so "most" of the people receiving the assisstance are law abiding citizens. "
