By Pantagraph staff
Illinois Wesleyan senior track standout Rachel Anderson is among 58 winter-sport athletes to be awarded an NCAA postgraduate scholarship.
The Clinton native, who has a 3.79 grade-point average as a business major and plans to attend pharmacy school, is among nine women chosen from Division III schools and one of six female indoor track athletes.
She has been the national NCAA Division III indoor 400 champion in the past three seasons and was also the national outdoor champion in 2006. She also anchored the winning 1,600-meter relay team in this year’s indoor meet, which IWU won.
The NCAA awards postgraduate scholarships of $7,500 each to 29 male and 29 female student-athletes who participated in winter sports.
