Pekin woman convicted of threatening president back in court
By Associated Press
PEORIA -- A federal judge in Peoria is requesting a mental health check for a Pekin woman convicted two years ago for writing a threatening letter to President Bush.
Jessica Moyer was back in federal court Friday for the second time this month for alleged probation violations.
Moyer was placed on probation for five years in October 2006 for the threatening letter. At the time, U.S. District Judge Michael Mihm noted that Moyer seemed pathologically immature. On Friday, Mihm said he didn’t know why Moyer couldn’t abide by the rules of her probation.
Mihm requested a mental health check of Moyer before he would pass any sentence for the alleged probation violations, and said he would not release her from custody.
