Road updates as of May 16

New



-- The passing lane of the bridge carrying eastbound I-74 over U.S. 51, south of Bloomington, will be closed for three days starting May 19 for bridge repairs.

-- Rhodes Lane will be closed to through traffic from Bunn Street to Morrissey Drive beginning g May 19, for about one week. The road will be closed to all traffic at the railroad crossing.

-- Fort Jesse Road from Towanda Avenue to Landmark Drive will be reduced to one lane in each direction starting at 7 a.m. May 20 due to street repairs, which should end by 3 p.m. Tuesday.

-- The traffic signal at the intersection of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and White Oak Road will return to regular operation Tuesday. The sign has been on flash since mid-December for railroad work.

-- The spillway bridge on Ill. Route 10 over Clinton Lake is closed for replacement, probably through the end of the summer.

-- The replacement of the East College Avenue bridge over the north branch of Sugar Creek, adjacent to Anderson Park between Grandview Drive and Veronica Way, will begin May -- Detours will be posted.

Bloomington-Normal



-- Work continues through late June on crack sealing on Ill. Route 10 from Ill. Route 48 to Interstate 72 in Piatt and DeWitt counties; Veterans Parkway, Bloomington; Ill. Route 9 from east of Towanda to east of Ill. Route 165 in McLean County; and U.S. 36 from Interstate 44 to U.S. 51 in McLean County.

-- Work continues until late June on bridge beam replacement work will begin April 28 on U.S. 136 over Prairie Creek, seven miles west of U.S. 51 in McLean County. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with temporarily traffic signals.

-- Morris Avenue is closed until fall 2008 to all traffic from the north Park Hill Cemetery entrance to Fox Hill Apartments until the reconstruction of Morris Avenue. Access to Fox Hill Apartments, other residents and businesses south of Goose Creek will be from the south only. Access to Grosso’s Garage will be from Butcher’s Lane only. Morris Avenue remains closed to through traffic from Miller Street to Six Points Road.

-- Township Road 2250 North, between 2700 East and 2750 East, will be closed to through traffic to June 17 for bridge construction.

-- Six Points Road will be reduced to one lane each day from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for water main construction and road widening.

-- Hershey Road, north of Shepard, and Raab Road from the west entrance to Eagle’s Landing west to Hershey Road, will be closed until further notice.

-- Guardrail reflector replacement is scheduled through June 30 along Ill. routes 9, 165, 54, 251, 122, 24 and U.S. routes 136, 150 and 51, all in McLean County.

-- Morris Avenue will be closed to through traffic from Miller Street to Six Points Road through fall 2008 for Morris Avenue reconstruction. Intermittent daytime closures of Butchers Lane also will occur.

-- Various streets in uptown Normal are affected by the Marriott hotel project.

-- Beaufort between Fell Avenue and Constitution Trail is closed through early 2009. Beaufort between Fell and Broadway is closed through late 2008.

-- The intersection of Beaufort and Broadway is closed through approximately early 2009. Access to the drive that runs behind Wright’s Printing, Jimmy John’s, etc. is anticipated to remain open.

-- Constitution Trail between Mulberry and the railroad tracks is closed through late 2008.

-- Broadway Avenue between Phoenix Avenue and North Street will be closed to through traffic until further notice (likely spring 2009) for Marriott and infrastructure improvements.

Central Illinois



-- Carlock weigh station being rehabilitated on Interstate 74.
