50-year term given for armed robbery

BLOOMINGTON — A Bloomington man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the January 2007 armed robbery of a woman whose throat was cut during the assault.

Reginald Woods, 37, of the 200 block of North Allin Street was convicted of injuring the woman after taking illegal drugs from her at knifepoint. He received a 50-year sentence for armed robbery for taking her cell phone and concurrent sentences of 50 years for armed violence and 10 years for aggravated battery in connection with the offense.

Woods was given credit for 477 days served in jail.

" I agree that this guy should get this amount of time. What confuses me is that he gets this for roberry but the kids with the prostitution ring using 12 year old girls that will be scared for life (not that this lady won't be) get about 2 years tops in juvy. What is this world coming too? At least they got this sentence right. "
