BLOOMINGTON -- Bloomington police are continuing their investigation into a June 7 robbery of a local currency exchange.

The robbery of the Market Street Currency Exchange, 1401 W. Market St., occurred as an employee was opening the business at 8 a.m., according to police reports.

A man wearing a hooded sweatshirt approached the woman from behind and placed on object in her back that she believed was a weapon, said Bloomington police spokesman Duane Moss.

“He made it clear this was a robbery,” said Moss.

The employee was forced inside and told to open a safe, from which an undisclosed amount of cash was taken. The suspect tied the woman’s hands and feet with duct tape, said Moss, then left through the back door of the business.

Police were called shortly after 8:30 a.m. by a second employee who found the woman in a bathroom.
