Pontiac man in fair condition after truck accident
PONTIAC -- A Pontiac man is now listed in fair condition at a Peoria hospital, hospital officials said, after a truck crash early Wednesday morning left him trapped for several hours.
Jose Perez Jr., 29, was transported from OSF St. James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center in Pontiac to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after he lost control of his 1995 Mazda B4000 and overturned.
A Livingston County Sheriff’s accident report said that he was traveling east on Livingston County 1200 North Road, a quarter mile east of 1600 East Road, when he left the roadway and entered the north ditch of 1200 North, struck a culvert and rolled one and a half times, coming to a rest on the driver side.
Rescue officials came to the scene at 5:18 a.m., and Pontiac Fire Chief John Cummins said that Perez commented to other firefighters that he actually had the accident around 1 a.m., meaning that he was trapped in his vehicle for more than four hours.
Perez was also cited for improper lane usage.
