" Bloomington Girl, when you want to move something big, it always helps to BOTH push and pull. Tearing down the Coachman, that old gas station at Empire and Main, and some of the poorly maintained houses is PUSHING. Recognizing those that do a great job in keeping up their properties and setting an example for others is PULLING. BTW does anyone know if there will be another west side meeting? That group is planning improvements and already has torn down a bad building and replaced it with a public garden. This is a good direction to go. "

" Interesting that: the committe chairmans church got an award, no residential awards given northeast of Veteran's and Rt 9, and Larry Biefeldt got an award two years in a row (Lady Wellness Center and now Parke Hotel). What is so beautiful about Bloomington High School? This committee has no criteria to judge by, it is strictly a personal/emotional vote on the drive-by of the property. Could it be that the committee members are antagonistic to the eastside? Awards here mean nothing. "

" This is all fine and dandy, but instead of handing out awards for pretty homes and businesses, how about cleaning up the nasty run-down houses (and buildings) in this town instead??? "
