Pontiac people always pull together in a crisis
We are blessed to live in a small town like Pontiac. People care about other people and are there when you need them, at least as much as possible. We have a food pantry that many caring people donate to. If there is a need you can find help here. Families have grown up here from generation to generation, so almost everyone knows everyone. If people lose their jobs or have to move over the prison, it is going to affect the whole town, not just these people who work at the prison. These people will be missed and there will be concern about how they are going to take care of their families without jobs. This is a community that truly comes together in crisis. People in Pontiac are not just looked at as statistics; they are looked at as human beings with feelings. Whatever they do with the prison here, it will not change the hearts of the people here. It will hurt in many ways, but the people in the prison will notice more of a difference. They won't have the same type of people guarding them who actually care. The problem with politics is that someone has forgotten it is supposed to be for the people and not against them. Carol Baker Pontiac |
