Wilson’s first score came with 6:22 left in the first quarter. Jake VanWinkle scored from 2 yards out to put the Hornets up 14-0 in the first.
Late in the second quarter, Andrew Schultz rumbled 83 yards off a blocked LeRoy field goal attempt and Heyworth led 21-0 at the half.
An interception set up LeRoy’s first score, an 8-yard touchdown run by Brian Roberts, one of two touchdowns by Roberts on the evening.
Wilson’s second touchdown came with 4:42 left in the fourth. He finished with 135 yards rushing as the Hornets gained 281 yards on the ground.
“They really came at us and put us on our back heels with their running game,” said Heyworth coach Mike Law. “It’s been a long time since we’ve won an opener and it’s been since ’85 that we’ve beat LeRoy, so this is one step in many hurdles to come.”
