Linebrink activated by White Sox

CLEVELAND -- Reliever Scott Linebrink was activated from the 15-day disabled list on Monday by the Chicago White Sox, who made several other moves before opening a three-game series against the Cleveland Indians.
Linebrink had been on the DL since July 26 with inflammation in his shoulder. The right-hander was 2-2 with a 2.31 ERA and one save in 42 outings. The 32-year-old, who signed a four-year deal with the White Sox in November after playing his entire career in the National League, walked only six in 39 innings before going on the DL.
In addition, the White Sox recalled outfielder Jerry Owens and right-handers Mike MacDougal and Ehren Wasserman from Triple-A Charlotte. They also purchased the contract of catcher Paul Phillips on the first day teams were allowed to expand their rosters.
MacDougal opened the season in Chicago’s bullpen but he was optioned to Charlotte after allowing 15 baserunners in just 8 1-3 innings.
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen was happy to have Linebrink back for the playoff stretch run.
“He did a good job for us earlier this year,” Guillen said. “He shows me he’s ready, he’s in there.”
