Summaries of games and matches played by Pantagraph-area teams Sept. 2, 2008. VolleyballPontiac upends Streator: Loni Mackinson registered 14 assists, six service points and two blocks as Pontiac defeated Streator, 25-15, 25-14 in a nonconference match at Streator. Kelsey Fairfield led the Indians in kills with five. Flanagan-Cornell tips Prairie Central: Taylor Wheat’s five kills and two blocks helped Flanagan-Cornell open the season with a 25-22, 12-25, 25-21 victory over Prairie Central at Flanagan. Abby Popejoy paced the Hawks with 10 service points and six kills. Dee-Mack prevails: Jenae Dearing and Alyssa Lelm each had five kills, while Sheila Grimm had 21 assists to help Deer Creek-Mackinaw down Midwest Central, 25-7, 25-20. Dwight wins in three: Carly Perschnick recorded 15 kills and five blocks to spark Dwight to a 22-25, 25-22, 25-19 victory over visiting Clifton Central. Amie Hogan added 27 assists and seven service points for the Trojans. Pair paces Tremont: Kristen Delinski contributed six kills, 11 digs and three aces while Nichole Wagenbach added six kills and four blocks as Tremont downed Peoria Christian, 25-21, 27-25. Mahomet-Seymour falls: Tolono Unity dealt Mahomet-Seymour a 25-17, 25-21 loss. Dani Bunch led the Bulldogs with four service points, three blocks and two aces. Maroa tops Heyworth: Dakota Springer had 14 digs and three kills for Heyworth in a 26-24, 25-17 loss to Maroa-Forsyth at Maroa. Mount Pulaski takes win: Samantha Nichols had a team-high nine kills and Jeri Kaye Turner added 12 assists as Mount Pulaski edged visiting Williamsville, 25-22, 25-22. GolfVon Waldner paces Lincoln: Lincoln’s Drew Von Waldner fired a 1-over-par 36 to lead the Railsplitters to a 152 total and a triangular victory over Normal Community (168) and Decatur Eisenhower (193) at Scovill Golf Course in Decatur. |
