High School volleyball roundup: Carpenter, Phillips lead Olympia
Kami Carpenter had 16 service points, including two aces, and six digs while Melisa Phillips added eight blocks and seven kills as the Spartans beat Mount Pulaski. Gundy leads Flanagan-Cornell: Emily Gundy had 10 service points and dished out nine assists while Taylor Wheat added seven kills as Flanagan-Cornell downed Roanoke Benson. EPG prevails: Mattie Fairchild recorded 18 assists and Jackie Hodel, Moli Copple and Alison Kinkade had seven kills each as El Paso-Gridley defeated Henry. Calvary Baptist victorious: Shelby Koehl recorded 17 service points while Amanda Turbett chipped in seven kills and three digs in Calvary Baptist’s three-set win over Buckley Christ Lutheran. Delavan trips Williamsfield: Amelia Sloan had 20 assists to lead Delavan past Williamsfield. Bates sparks Pontiac: Kati Bates served 15 points (including 10 aces) and added eight kills as Pontiac clipped Lexington. Laugel paces Illini Central: Kelsey Laugel handed out 22 assists and Lauren Deiss recorded 11 digs as Illini Central bested Havana. Blue Ridge falls: Danielle Thompson had four assists, three service points and two aces in Blue Ridge’s loss to Maroa-Forsyth. Dee-Mack triumphs: Deer Creek-Mackinaw overcame Illini Bluffs behind nine kills from Alyssa Lelm, 18 assists by Sheila Grimm and Emily Orrick’s eight digs. CPCI wins twice: Haley Dodd contributed 31 assists and Kaylea Heideman added 11 kills as CPCI topped Momence and Milford at the Lady Timberwolf Tip-Off Tournament. Fisher gets two wins: Fisher defeated Armstrong-Potomac and GCMS at the CPCI tournament with the help of 14 assists from Jordan Hobbs and 10 kills by Kailey Roberts. GCMS splits pair: Taylor Tjardes totaled 14 kills as GCMS beat Tri-Point and lost to Fisher at the CPCI tourney. Heyworth falls in three sets: Dakota Springer hammered 15 kills and had 14 digs, Kelli Shaffer handed out 24 assists and had nine service points while Jamie Law registered seven blocks as Heyworth extended Clinton to three sets before finally losing to the Maroons. Mahomet-Seymour loses: Corrie Magrini recorded eight assists as Mahomet-Seymour fell in straight sets to Champaign Central. Fieldcrest loses in three: Hilary Timmerman had nine kills and eight blocks as the Knights fell to Putnam County in three sets. Jenna Kalkwarf added nine digs and eight service points for Fieldcrest. Ridgeview edges Iroquois West: Ridgeview got seven kills from Jasmine Hughes and 19 assists from Dusty Gleeson in a narrow win over Iroquois West. |
