Regional Digest for Sept. 8:
Streator physician loses license
STREATOR — The state of Illinois has permanently revoked the license of a Streator physician after reviewing a California case in volving him.
Charles Dickerson III had been practicing in Streator until January, when Illinois temporarily revoked his license, pending review of the California case. He moved to Streator three years ago from California.
The California Medical Board revoked Dickerson’s license on charges he performed wrong procedures, misdiagnosed a patient’s illness and was difficult to reach.
Contract reached for Streator teachers
STREATOR— Grade school teachers and the school board have approved a three-year contract.
The new agreement reached gives the 130 teachers a 3 percent raise for each of three years of the contract.
Teachers have been without a contract since Aug. 15. A promised strike vote was narrowly averted when an agreement was reached last week.
Wages and insurance were the key sticking points in the negotiations this year.
Six years ago teachers narrowly averted a strike in overnight negotiations.
