Wenona woman killed in crash

LACON -- A Wenona woman was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident that occurred Saturday night in northern Marshall County, the sheriff’s office reported.
Debra Immel, 51, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:45 p.m. by Marshall County Coroner David Lenz Jr.
Immel was northbound on Putnam Road, approximately a half-mile north of Old Stagecoach Road, when the vehicle left the roadway, the sheriff’s office reported. The department was notified of the crash at 8:22 p.m.
The vehicle crossed into the southbound lane of traffic and went into a ditch on the west side of the road, according to the report. The vehicle then rolled over several times, and Immel was ejected from the vehicle, the report said.
The Putnam County ambulance and Sheriff’s Department, Magnolia fire and rescue, and the Varna Fire Department responded to the scene.
The Marshall County coroner’s office and sheriff’s office continue to investigate the accident.
