By Pantagraph staff
UPDATED 4:45 p.m. BLOOMINGTON -- A man whose mobile home was destroyed in a suspicious fire was staying with relatives Thursday as police and fire officials investigate the blaze.
Paul Menken lived with his teenage son in the Southgate Estates mobile home, which was destroyed in the fire reported around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday. There were no reported injuries.
Bloomington Deputy Fire Chief Les Siron declined to say Thursday what about the fire was suspicious, only that it apparently started in the living-room section of the mobile home. Bloomington police are assisting in the investigation, but police spokesman Duane Moss did not have any information about the case early Thursday.
Menken is staying with relatives, and the American Red Cross of the Heartland has provided some assistance with immediate needs, such as food, said Mike McKnight, director of disaster response with the agency.
