Question: Since February began, it seems as if it's been mostly cloudy and/or rainy almost every day in Central Illinois. Is it the year’s cloudiest month?
Answer: Although it seems as if this February has been loaded down with clouds, it is NOT the cloudiest month in Bloomington-Normal. In fact, it’s only fourth. According to area statistics kept since 1980 at a weather station at Central Illinois Regional Airport, November is the year’s cloudiest. Sixty percent of November days are cloudy. December is next (58 percent cloudy days), followed by January (56 percent cloudy) and February (54 percent). June and July are our sunniest months with nearly 70 percent of their days sunny.
