Question: In honor of the 85th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s 1932 graduation from Eureka College, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Calif., in June 2017 revealed a rarely-seen, 28-minute video splice of a 1982 Oval Office interview Reagan had with an Illinois newspaper. Can you name the newspaper?
Answer: It was this newspaper. And, yes, it was a then first-year Pantagraph columnist (Flick Facts wouldn’t begin until 1990) who conducted the interview in the Oval Office. And, yes, it remains a highlight of a career. Today, by the way, is the 107th anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth. In person, he was a warm, humble, highly nostalgic guy who loved his Central Illinois roots.
