Question: A common reason one hears for living in Bloomington-Normal is it’s "a great place to raise a family.” But is there any legitimacy to that claim?
Answer: Thanks to a 2017 ranking by the National Council for Home Safety and Security for the “100 Best Cities in America To Raise Kids,” it appears B-N is indeed a good place for family, ranked as No. 88 in the U.S for such, one of six cities in Illinois to make the Top 100. Champaign is 81. Other cities in Illinois: Naperville, 14; Evanston, 28; Arlington Heights, 54, Skokie, 96. The organization used family income, education, crime rates and number of insured children in a home as their guide.
