BLOOMINGTON - As the political season heats up, so does Shawn Johnson's business. Overtime Printing, which opened about two weeks ago in a new, larger location at 408 S. Madison St. in Bloomington, does screen printing on apparel.

"We've already had some (Barack) Obama shirts and it will probably pick up with school now in session," said Johnson, co-owner of the business.

Started in March on West North Street in Normal, the business moved to the Madison Street location for more space. Johnson estimated the new location is 1,600 square feet.

Hours for the business are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. However, he said he and two associates work until the job is done and that the name of the business reflects that.

"If we're busy we might be here 24 hours a day," Johnson said, adding that he expects to eventually hire more workers.

Word of mouth has kept the firm busy so far. The business has had orders from as far as San Francisco, he said.

Johnson was formerly a welder and also studied graphic design. Overtime Printing came about after he and his current co-workers "sat around a few months ago thinking what type of business we'd like to open."

The firm has spent about $60,000 on equipment thus far, said the 27-year-old Johnson.

He hopes the return of college students helps keep that equipment busy.

"College kids are always wanting to make a statement," he said. "When people have opinions that's good for business."
