African-Americans were given the right to vote in 1870, but fought for decades against disenfranchisement and unconstitutional restrictions. Women weren't granted voting rights until 1920. Don't take for granted that which drove thousands of people to sacrifice so much.
Politicians sometimes need to be reminded that they represent all constituents, not just a small group of "likely voters." Help them remember by making sure that they are chosen by a diverse population.
