B-N singer survives elimination from 'Idol'

BLOOMINGTON - An "American Idol" contestant with ties to Bloomington-Normal still is hanging in there.

Luke Menard, 28, a member of the Bloomington-based a cappella group Chapter 6, was not among the two men and two women eliminated Thursday from the popular singing competition on Fox television network.

He will be among eight men and eight women set to compete next week.
