SPRINGFIELD - Comedian Frank Caliendo will bring his national tour to the University of Illinois at Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium for a late-summer stand at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 23.

Tickets, priced at $39.75, go on sale at 10 a.m. June 27 via the auditorium's box office, which can be reached by phone at (800) 207-6960.

A seven-year veteran of TV sketch comedy ("MadTV," "Hype"), Caliendo began starring in his own series, "Frank TV" on the TBS network last fall. He describes the show as "The Muppets" meets "SCTV" meets "Saturday Night Live" meets "The Simpsons."

Caliendo is also known for his impressions of celebrities and politicians such as Al Pacino, Robin Williams, George W. Bush, Robert DeNiro and John Madden.

Among his other notable credits are appearances on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" and "The View."
