BLOOMINGTON - George Clooney's singing voice and Alison Krauss' ace guitarist/mandolin player are both coming to the stage of the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts. And they're one and the same person: Grammy-winning musician Dan Tyminski.
Tyminski will perform the show - a new addition to the BCPA's spring slate - at 7:30 p.m. May 16.
To some people, Tyminski is best known as the singing voice for Clooney's character in the 2000 Coen Brothers' movie hit, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?; others, meanwhile, know him as a member of Krauss' band, Union Station.
Still others have embraced him as the leader of his own bluegrass group, the Dan Tyminski Band, which released its second album, "Wheels," to critical acclaim last summer and an eventual Best Bluegrass Album Grammy nomination.
His work on the "O Brother, Where Art Thou" soundtrack earned him a Grammy Award for Best Country Collaboration with Vocals.
The album itself was also a Grammy winner, for Best Album of the Year.
Tickets for the BCPA concert are priced from $18.10 to $28.50, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Monday to BCPA Arts Partner and Seat Sponsor supports. Sales to the general public began at 10 a.m. Thursday.
The BCPA's toll-free box office number is (866) 686-9541.
