PEORIA - Veteran pop group the Beach Boys will help kick up some sand for the Peoria Civic Center's summer season with a 7:30 p.m. concert May 14.

Tickets for the show, in the Civic Center Theatre, are priced from $29.50 to $62, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Thursday via the Civic Center box office and area Ticketmaster locations.

The band, now in its 48th year, bills itself as "having performed more shows than any other major rock act," and claims to have "never taken a summer off from touring."

The current lineup features only two core members, Mike Love and Bruce Johnston. The backing band includes Love's son Christian and an alumnus of another '60s pop clan, John Cowsill of The Cowsills.
