SPRINGFIELD -- The Illinois State Fair is still more than a month away, but the deadline is near for buying a "mega pass" at a discount.

The pass costs $50 through Saturday. The price goes up after that to $60.

Fairgoers with the mega pass get unlimited rides on the Carnival Midway and Adventure Village attractions. The pass doesn't include entry to the fair or rides on the Tram, Sky Glide and Giant Slide.

Mega passes can be purchased at the Emmerson Building on the fairgrounds. The building is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It also will be open Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for last-minute sales.

The Illinois State Fair runs Aug. 14-23.
