Hart to heartland

Comedian Kevin Hart is currently all over the big screen in "Jumanji: Back to the Jungle," which opened over the holidays and, as of last weekend, was still No. 1  at the box office ... something of a Christmas movie record. If that's not enough Hart in your life for the Valentine week ahead, he'll be headlining his first Central Illinois date since selling out a stand in Peoria four years ago. This time, Hart's beating a path to Springfield's BOS Center (formerly Prairie Capital Convention Center) at 7 p.m. Sunday. As of press-time, tickets were still available via the BOS box office. They range from $61-$127.50; also available are some decidedly pricier VIP packages.

Mum's the word

We DO love our mummies dearly here. Hence, the constant comings of the funk-rock band wrapped up in its music like few others. Here Come the Mummies began their B-N pilgrimages, deep from the sands of time, eight years ago when they visited the Castle Theatre in its first year of existence. The instant sellout has resulted in near-annual appearances ever since, including this weekend's return dust-up at 8 p.m. Friday, preceded on stage by openers Sun Stereo. As Mummy Cass reminded us during the band's last pass through a year ago, "We love The Castle and all the fine folks of Bloomington a lot ... but the real reason we do anything is always Ladies, capital 'L.' If that is a boring answer, you may be doing it wrong."

Mice on ice

The latest edition of Disney on Ice, dubbed Reach for the Stars, slides into the Peoria Civic Center Arena for five performances this weekend ... specifically, 7 p.m. Friday, and 1 and 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Promised are old-schoolers like Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy, as well as Next Gen'ers like "Frozen's" royal sibs, Anna and Elsa; snowman Olaf; crabby Sebastian; and Belle and her Beast. Tickets are $15-$90.
