BLOOMINGTON — In his previous two passes through the Twin Cities, country singer Luke Bryan opened for then-bigger headliners.
The third time is the charm: He’s now the headliner of his own show and tour, “Dirt Road Diaries,” coming Feb. 17, to Bloomington’s U.S. Cellular Coliseum.
Ticket prices and a release date will be announced at a later time, a Coliseum spokeswoman said.
In 2007, Bryan opened on the same stage for Trace Adkins; the following year, 2008, he opened for Dierks Bentley in Illinois State University’s Braden Auditorium.
Opening for Bryan on Feb. 17 will be reigning ACM “Vocal Duo of the Year” Thompson Square and another fast-breaking duo, Florida Georgia Line.
The past year has been Bryan’s biggest to date, topped by three back-to-back platinum-selling hits: “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” “I Don’t Want This Night to End” and “Drunk on You,’’ from the “platinum & tanlines” album, also a platinum-seller.
