GIBSON CITY - Marjorie Brotherton, 87, died peacefully in her sleep at 4 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at Heartland Health Care Center, Paxton.
Her funeral service was Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. Visitation was held for two hours before the funeral Saturday at the funeral home. Burial was in Drummer Township Cemetery.
Mrs. Brotherton was born April 23, 1928, in Saybrook, a daughter of Monnie and Beulah Burnett Wagonseller. She married Lyle Brotherton on April 27, 1947, in Pocahontas, Ark. He died July 20, 1991.
Surviving are her daughters, Linda (Walter) Hatfield, Champaign, and Cheryl (James) Hartnett, Aurora; a granddaughter, Suellyn (Myron) Boastick, Champaign; and a great-grandson, Parker Boastick, Champaign. She is also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Evelyn Goin; and an infant brother, Frank.
Marjorie was employed by Corn Belt Hatcheries until 1985. She later worked at Developmental Services Center of Champaign until her retirement in 1988.
She was a past president of the PTA and active in other community organizations until poor health restricted her participation. She was a 50-year member of the First Christian Church, Gibson City.
Marjorie will be remembered by many for the lovingly crocheted crafts she sold at Gordyville.
