BLOOMINGTON - Court proceedings against a Normal man charged in the stabbing death of Joshua Embry have been continued until July while the defense and prosecution review evidence.

Joshua A. McGuire, 22, of the 900 block of Adelaide Street, was in court Thursday for a pretrial hearing.

McGuire is accused of the fatal stabbing of Embry in November during a fight in the 500 block of North Center Street.

Defense lawyer Amy Davis said she expected to receive additional evidence from Chief Felony Prosecutor Mark Messman. Among the items the defense has asked for are notes taken by police officers and video tapes that may have captured the fight.

Messman said after the hearing that the case involves many witnesses, lab reports and video evidence that must be exchanged and reviewed by both sides. Police interviewed dozens of witnesses in connection with Embry's death.

A July 7 pre-trial hearing is scheduled.
