ROANOKE - The Roanoke-Benson High School gym will be renamed in honor of former longtime basketball coach Dick Broers during a public ceremony today.
The ceremony, which is free to the public, will be from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the gym.
Broers was boys basketball coach at Roanoke-Benson where he compiled a 401-167 record. He retired from coaching in 1974. He also coached two seasons at Lowpoint High School.
Broers is a 1950 graduate of Eureka College, where he became the school's first player to score 1,000 points in his career.
