100 years ago

May 12, 1908: A jury set aside the will of James Crumbaugh of Leroy. He died leaving thousands of dollars to start a spiritualist church and a public library there. Unless there is a successful appeal, the estate will be administered as provided by state law.

75 years ago

May 12, 1933: The latest heavy rains left a lot of high water. Near the Harry Hall farm west of the city, Sugar Creek was half a mile wide. The Hall farm buildings were on a hill or they would have been under water.

50 years ago

May 12, 1958: The Brandtville Champs 4-H Club now has its own club house, thanks to some of the 17 members' dads. The house was built in 1946 by members of the Loyal Friends Club, which also uses the building. Some of the dads are members of that club.

25 years ago

May 12, 1983: Disgruntled residents from Eastmoor subdivision confronted the airport authority over high noise levels generated by Britt Airways doing maintenance tests on turbo prop engines. Nothing was decided, and no one from Britt attended the meeting.
