BLOOMINGTON - One driver was seriously injured in a crash between a semitrailer truck and a small car Thursday afternoon at Veterans Parkway and Eastland Drive, police said.

Rescue workers cut Tegan Keller, 17, Flanagan, from a Chevrolet Cavalier following the crash about 2:45 p.m., police said. She was in serious condition Thursday night at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, a nursing supervisor said.

Keller's passenger didn't appear to have been as badly injured, and he tried to help remove her from the car, Bloomington police spokesman David White said. Information on him wasn't available Thursday.

Semi driver Dale Montgomery, 68, of Creve Coeur complained of back pain, White said. He was in stable condition Thursday night at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, a nursing supervisor said.

Witnesses said the truck had a green arrow to turn left from northbound Veterans Parkway to westbound Eastland Drive when the southbound car entered the intersection, White said. The semi struck the car in the driver's side front quarter panel and door, and the car spun around before coming to rest facing north on the road, he said.

Eastland Drive was blocked in both directions and police diverted all southbound traffic at Empire Street. The intersection was completely open by a little before 4 p.m., White said.

No traffic citations had been issued by late Thursday.
