BLOOMINGTON - The fact that a May 8 meeting filled a room with neighbors and residents concerned about Bloomington's west-side revitalization has led to a second such meeting.
Another community summit has been set for 6:30 p.m. July 17 at Mount Pisgah Baptist Church, 801 W. Market St.
The city of Bloomington has partnered with the Economic Development Council of Bloomington-Normal, local businesses and area neighborhood associations to study how the area immediately west of the city's downtown can be rebuilt and attract more homeowners and businesses.
The city and State Farm Bank put up the $90,000 for Teska Associates to conduct the study.
City Manager Tom Hamilton said the July 17 meeting was an addition to Teska's original plans for the study. More than 200 people attended the first meeting May 8 at Mount Pisgah.
Dennis Arnold, president of Gridley-Allin-Prickett Neighborhood Association, said the second meeting was needed because there was not enough time in the first to hear everyone's ideas.
