Illinois State Police are investigating a crash in Livingston County that killed a Fairbury father and injured his four children.
Brian Rayburn, 39, died at 7:37 p.m. Friday in the emergency room at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll said.
His children, who range in age 3 to 12 years old, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the crash, she said.
The crash happened about 5 p.m. Friday on Old U.S. 66 at Livingston County Road 1450 North in Eppards Point Township, south of Pontiac, she said. Rayburn, who was southbound, veered into the other lane of traffic and crashed into an oncoming semitrailer truck, she said.
State police said Rayburn was wearing a seat belt and it took first responders 25 minutes to extricate him from the minivan.
He was taken to St. OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac, and then flown to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
An autopsy performed Saturday showed Rayburn died from multiple injuries.
Martin-Burke Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of funeral arrangements.
