OTTAWA - The estate of one of two women killed Oct. 16 in a fiery crash on Interstate 39 near Tonica has filed a wrongful-death lawsuit seeking at least $300,000 from two other drivers.
The family of Antonia Aquilera, 39, of LaSalle said Russell Flanders of Elburn and semitrailer truck driver Michael Yanke of Muskego, Wis., were negligent when Flanders' pickup pushed Aguilera's car into the rear of Yanke's truck. Her car then burst into flames.
The semi had slowed because smoke a mile away obscured vision.
Aguilera's co-worker, Maricela Carreon, 39, also of LaSalle, was killed at the same time.
No hearing date has been set for the LaSalle County suit.
