BLOOMINGTON - The family that rescued a stray cat, found with an arrow lodged into his side, says the cat's a real fighter and is recovering at their home.

Nicknamed Mellow Yellow for his laid-back style, the cat wandered Thursday night onto the porch of a Clinton Street home he'd been visiting for the last few weeks.

Andy Gipson and his mother, Jeanne Gipson, who live there, called police and helped get the cat medical attention.

After a few calls, Yellow ended up at Town and Country Animal Hospital on Linden Street in Normal. Vets operated on the cat's injuries Saturday.

"He's going to survive. He's really doing good," said Andy Gipson, Tuesday afternoon. The cat has taken a liking to drinking water out of the faucet, the Bloomington man said.
